Locina remarried Samuel Berry Porterfield in Mercer County, Pennsylvania on December 3, 1873, and from this marriage were born Charles Sumner, Nervanna Eleanor, and Estella Mary Porterfield. The first two children were born in Pennsylvania, but Estella Mary was born in Michigan. Both Locina and Samuel made Michigan their home until their deaths.

Note: Samuel Berry Porterfield (1835-1918) was a Private who fought for the Union in the Civil War.

Note from Carmen Matteson, great granddaughter: "All 3 of Locina's stepsons as well as their son Charles, were Salvation Army Ministers. They all played musical instruments...I have a photo of them in their "uniforms" and with their "horns". My grandmother described her family as very happy and Loving. Samuel was a United Brethren Minister...Locina was a "hatter" grandmother's term, and she herself made dresses for other ladies."
