George W. Hubbard was born 9/10/1840 in Somerset, MI. They married in 1861 in Michigan and in the late 1860's they moved to Fox Township, Iowa. They resided in that vicinity (also near Jesup, IA) for 30 some years but later moved to Waterloo, IA proper. Though Mr. Hubbard did farm he devoted most of his working life to carpentry, cabinet making and contracting. He built many fine residences in and around Jesup; also barns in Fox township and adjoining vicinity. Mr. Hubbard was the last of ten children.
The Hubbard's became the parents of one son, William G. Hubbard, and the grandparents of four. After the death of the mother of these grandchildren, Sarah and George raised these youngsters.
