Arcadia Polk was born 07 Jun 1812 at Beaver Creek, Feliciana Parish, Louisiana, USA, a few months after Louisiana became a state on April 30, 1812. Beaver Creek later became the town of Clinton and in 1924 Feliciana Parish was divided into East Feliciana Parish and West Feliciana Parish.

In early 1813 Arcadia's parents Isaac Polk and Sarah E. White removed to Amity County, Mississippi. According to Ebenezer Baptist Church Minutes, Amite County, Mississippi:

"In 1813, April 24, the church met in conference and received by Experience, Isaac Polk. On July 03, 1813, Sarah Polk was received by Experience." Isaac and Sarah were both dismissed by letter on May 03, 1817 when apparently they removed to Lawrence County, Mississippi.

Isaac Polk was "mustered into service December 20, 1814, marched to a place about five miles below New Orleans, & there engaged in the Battle of New Orleans." After the battle, Isaac was transferred to Captain Esom until honorably discharged March 1815.

I note that my ancient grandfather Isaac Polk served in the same command at the Battle of New Orleans with my ancient grandfathers George Bohannon and Abner Percy Roberts.
