Winifred Estelle McKeown, one of four children of James and Betsy Allard Fitzgerald, was born on a farm near Lena, Illinois, December 13, 1883. She passed away in Superior, Nebraska, October 17, 1976, at the age of 92 years, 10 months and four days.

As a small child, Winifred moved with her parents to a farm near Webber, Kansas. She grew up and was educated in Jewell County and attended Jr. College in Omaha.

June 6, 1906, Winifred was married in Superior to Ross McKeown. To this union two children were born. Winifred and Ross lived for short time in Fairfield and then made their home in Superior, where she lived the rest of her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ross, who passed away in 1937; one brother and two sisters.

Survivors include her son, Kenneth of Los Osos, California; daughter, Joy (Mrs. H.W. Blackstone) of Durango, Colorado; two grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Funeral services were held from the McGrergue–Price Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, October 20, at 2 p.m. Rev. Marion Knoell officiated. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery, Superior. Dan McKeown, Keith McKeown, Tom McKeown, Roland Wages, Glenn Platt and Fay Vestal were casketbearers.
