J.L. Castleman, 83, of 302 South Avenue D, moved to South Bend, Texas after the death of his father.

John L Castleman married Susan Douglas on 26 January 1904 at South Bend, Texas at the home of her parents. The couple lived on her parent's farm on the Brazos River. The couple moved to Bunger community in 1908 where they owned / operated a cotton gin, general merchandise store and operated the fourth class post office in 1909. Mr. Castleman owned the first post office and was responsible for naming the community after the twin Bunger Brothers. The couple moved to Newcastle in 1911 to a farm between Newcastle and Olney. In 1912, they moved to Graham, Texas. In 1913, the couple moved to the Lone Oak Community, then to the Olney area settling in the Bitter Creek community in 1914. John Castleman was a trustee of the Bitter Creek School Board for years. Later in life, Mr. Castleman retired from farming and moved into Olney, Texas. He became a city real estate dealer. He was a retired farmer and member of the Church of Christ.

Services were held at the Church of Christ with W.O. Hall, minister of the Rockwall church officiating.

Survived by his wife; three sons - Luther William "L.W." Castleman, John Loyd "J.L." Castleman, Cam Wallace "C.W." Castleman; three daughters - Mrs. L.E. Ford, Mrs. Floyd H. "Mahala Louise" Teague, Mrs. Jack Hill; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two brothers - Stephen Buchanan Castleman and Walter Otto Castleman.
