Mr F. J. Hutchins of Greenland, Woodville, has been appointed clerk of the Woodville County Council, vice Mr W. Nicholson, resigned

written c1908 Mr Frederick John Hutchins was appointed clerk to the Woodville County Council in June, 1906. He was born in Masterton in June, 1883, and received a good public school education. He then entered the employment of Messrs McKibbin and Company, merchants, Woodville, and subsequently became accountant to the firm, a position he still retains. Mr. Hutchins is a member of the Battalion Band, a member of the choir of the Woodville Presbyterian Church, and has also been a member of the local volunteer corps, fire brigade, and other local bodies.

Woodville was favored with splendid weather for the farewell visit of His Excellency Lord Plunket, who is giving up the Governorship of the Dominion, when he passed through yesterday... in conclusion, we most heartily desire to wish your Excellency a pleasant voyage to the Homeland also to express the hope that Your excellency, Lady Plunket and the members of your family may enjoy every happiness and prosperity wherever in the future your lot may be cast. Dated at Woodville this 21st day of April 1910. The Common Seal of the Borough of Woodville was hereto affixed in the presence of D. G. McKibbin, Mayor; F. J. Hutchins, Acting Town Clerk; William H. Nelson, Chairman

A pleasant little surprise was sprung on Mr F. J. Hutchins, late Town Clerk, at the Borough Chambers on Saturday afternoon. Mr Pickford, on behalf of the staff, presented Mr Hutchins with an umbrella, a handsome silver-mounted pipe and tobacco pouch. In making the presentation, Mr Pickford said they all regret Mr Hutchins; departure from the staff, for they all had got on splendidly together.Their fervent wish was that he would do well in his new sphere of labour and that he, Mrs Hutchins and family would continue in good health to enjoy his prosperity. Mr Hutchins feeling replied, sincerely thanking the staff for their presents and Mr Pickford especially for his kindly remarks. Mr Hutchins said he was sorry to leave the Borough work, for he had liked it, but had had an offer to better his position and he could not overlook that,

At the Wellington Supreme Court, Mr Justice Edwards and a jury of twelve, heard the petition of Ellen Hutchins for a dissolution of her marriage with F. J. Hutchins. A decree nisi was granted, to be mad absolute in three months.
