Allan Barbour Hogg (1855-1918) was Woodville's first chemist. He also acted as surgeon for 12 months until a medical man took up residence there. He was a son of Rev David Hogg, the first Presbyterian minister in Wanganui, who with his 2nd wife, Sarah nee Barbour (1828-1901) & family, emigrated from Scotland and settled in Wanganui where the Rev founded St Paul's Church. Allan Barbour Hogg, left Woodville around 1886, moving to Wanganui where he was a Pharmaceutical chemist there in Ball Street. In 1904 he was appointed manager of Mr C. F. A. Whiteford's pharmacy at Shannon.
He married Mary Isabella Newcombe (1855-1936) and their children were:

In 1905 David & Lucy had a 583 acre, mixed stock farm, 4 miles out of Woodville with a 5 roomed house. They were in Whakapara in 1925 where David was share-milking. They separated the following year (read the court case on her page).
David moved to Albany, north Auckland. He had 3 children to Mary Isabel Oakenfull nee Woodgate (1904-1977)

* 1938 - 1971 Robert David Hogg (aka Bob Kirk)
* All children registered as born in 1940. David & Mary married in 1939 after Mary's divorce from George Albert Clive Oakenfull (aka Eric Reginald Jackson).
After David's death in Hikutaia, the Land & Mortgages auctioned his dairy stock, horses etc at Paeroa. In his probate held Wellington, he left everything to Mary & only these 3 children in equal parts (nothing to the 3 remaining children with Lucy).
Their mother Lucy moved to Herne Bay, Auckland. She did not remarry. She died 29 Nov 1971 in Auckland and cremated at Purewa
