Elizabeth/Emily was the 6th of 7 known children of John Cracknell (1796-1888) & his 2nd wife, Mary Ann Lurcock (1816-1885) who married in Bapchild, Kent 14 Oct 1839. Her father had 1st married Frances Kemsley (1810-1938) on 13 April 1928 in Hollingbourne, Kent and had 5 children
Please Note She was known in most records as Emily. She had a sister Elizabeth Cracknell, 3 years her junior (1850-1925) who married Jeremiah Fitzgerald & John Carter and is buried in Hastings. However, her headstone here has Elizabeth Hanaray. I have put her under both names so you can find her.
Elizabeth married John Henry Hanaray (aka Jim Henry 1834-1886) in Woodville on 14 Aug 1871.
John was born in Ireland. He joined the US Navy and he and a mate deserted at Napier, New Zealand. Leaving Napier they had to swim a couple of swollen rivers and his mate was drowned.When his mate's body was found it was presumed John had drowned also. He then called himself 'Jim Henry' after that and was always known by that name.
