Catharina (baptized as Catelijn) Margits was baptized in the New Church in Amsterdam on February 4, 1625/6, daughter of Joseph Margits, an Englishman (b abt 1600 in London, d 1673 North Holland, Netherlands), and Anna van Waerdenburch, a Dutch woman (born abt 1606, of North Holland, Netherlands).She had six sisters and two brothers. Catharina's mother died when she was ten years-old, and her father remarried, having one more child, a girl.Katherina (aka Catherina) Margits married Adriaen Hegeman 7 Mar 1649 at Sloten, near Amsterdam. In the marriage intention applied for on 29 Jan 1649 Adriaen is described as, "Adriaen Hegeman of Elburgh, silkworker (syreder), aged 25 years, having no parents, living in Egelantier Straet". Catherina is described as, "Catharina Margits, of Amsterdam, aged 21 years, living on the Oudesyts Achterburgwall accompanied by Joseph Margits, her father."
Children: Hendrikus Hegeman, Joseph Hegeman, Jakobus Hegeman, Denijs Hegeman, Abraham Hegeman, Elizabeth Hegaman who married Tobias Ten Eyck, Isaack Hegeman and Benjamin Hegeman.
