Albert H. Carr funeral services held Tuesday.
Funeral services for Albert Henry Carr, 78, of Lumberton, Route 2, were held
Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Talowah Methodist Church. Mr. Carr died Sunday at 4 p.m.
at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg.
He was a retired farmer of the Yawn Community and had lived in Lamar County the
past 33 years. He was a member of the Union Grove Methodist Church in Cullman
County, Ala.
Mr. Carr had been a patient at Forrest General since suffering broken legs and
other injuries sustained in an accident in Lumberton in January. Death followed
a stroke Sunday morning.
Rev. Morrell Wells, pastor of the Purvis Methodist Church and the Talowah
Methodist Church, and Rev. J. K. Hegwood, former pastor of the two churches,
officiated at the services.
The body remained at home until time for the funeral. Bounds Funeral Home was
in charge of arrangements. Burial was in Coaltown Cemetery.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Ida Rutledge Carr; seven daughters, Mrs. Virgil
Cayten, Mrs. Bill Housley and Mrs. Wallace Campbell of Purvis, Mrs. Curtis
Anderson and Mrs. Howard Crum of Mobile, Mrs. Jimmy Addison and Miss Ruth Carr
of Lumberton; 11 sons, H. M. and J. P. of Purvis, Edward and A. H., Jr., of
Mobile, Ray of Rolling Fork, Jerry, M. C., Cecil, Albert L., Glenn and James of
the Lumberton area; one brother, Sam of Purvis; one sister, Mrs. Noah Plunkett
of Cullman, Ala.; 24 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
