She had resided in Lufkin since 1998. She taught for various school districts all over Texas, and was a retired member of the Texas State Teachers' Association. She wrote a weekly article for the Nacogdoches Daily Sentinel and was a volunteer at Nacogdoches Medical Center. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Nacogdoches Chapter #428. She played drums for "The Dreamers", was an avid gardener, and enjoyed building greenhouses. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Nacogdoches.
Survivors include her nieces, JoAnn Hill and husband Larry, Billie Thornton and husband Ray and Martha Windsor; and special friend, Mary Bass Millard.
Graveside services will be held in the Sunset Cemetery in Nacogdoches with Pastor Paul Sevar officiating.
