Edna Leta Matthes was born August 22, 1904, in Pierce, Wharton Co., Texas, the daughter of Fred Richard and Bertha Charlotte Suppe Matthes. She married Thomas Clifton Robertson on July 26, 1941, in Greenville, Hunt Co., Texas. They later divorced in 1951, and Edna took back her maiden name. She moved to Houston, Texas, in 1952, and worked as a bookkeeper for an insurance company until 1963. In 1964, she worked at "Christian Home for the Aged" in Houston, Texas, as a secretary and bookkeeper. Her sister, Clara Matthes, lived with her in Houston. She died Jan. 13, 1989, and was buried in the Palacios Cemetery, Palacios, Matagorda Co., Texas.
