Charles C. Slye, 72, of Elkton, died Thursday at Newman Nursing Home in Grottoes. His former wife, Nannie Dearing Slye, died in 1963.

Surviving are six children, Mrs. Geneva Baugher, Mrs. Merl Merica and Louis Slye, all of Elkton, Edward C. Slye of Harrisonburg, Charles Slye of Stanley and Kenneth Slye of Eglin Air Force Base in Florida, and a number of grandchildren.

Also surviving are four sisters, Mrs. Lyle Early and Mrs. Mattie Bailey, both of Elkton, Mrs. Lucy Comer of Shenandoah, and Mrs. Maggie Smith of Hagerstown, MD; three brothers, Amos Slye of Elkton, Luther Slye of Newport News, and John Slye of Alexandria.

The funeral service was conducted at 2:00 pm on Sunday at the Elkton Pentecostal Church, with Rev. Ennis Dean officiating. Pallbearers were Robert and Rodney Baugher, Howard and Earl Slye, Martin Lewis and Velty Merica.
