Mrs. Ivie Was Mother Of First White Girl Born On Reservation
Funeral services were held Tuesday in the Strawberry LDS Chapel for Mrs. Julia Myriah Myler Ivie, who died at her home last Sunday. The new chapel which has just been completed, was filled to overflowing with relatives, friends and fellow church workers of Mrs. Ivie, who has been a prominent LDS worker. She held offices in the Sunday Sxhool, Mutual Improvemnet Association and for the past seven years, was president of the Relief Society.
President Wm. H. Smart, Provo; President G. V. Billings, Duchesne and Clarence Baum of Strawberry were among the speakers who spoke of the life and accomplishments of Mrs. Ivie. Musical numbers were given by the Starwberry choir. Benediction was offered by David Baum. The grave in the Strawberry Cemetery was dedicated by Irvin Clegg, a son-in-law of Tabiona.
BORN AT CLARKSTON
Mrs. Ivie was born at Clarkston, Utah, January 6, 1872 , a daughter of Joseph Elias and Ann Maria Thacker Myler. On March 23, 1892, she married Alvy Baum at Clarkston. Two children were born to them, both of whom survive, Mrs. Ivie was married the second time tp James Gilbert Ivie of Wallsburg on December 17, 1896. They lived in Wallsburg for nine years and then moved to the reservation in 1905, settling on the Strawberry River, where they have lived since that time. It was here their daughter now Mrs. Alice Firth, was born, the first white girl born on the reservation. Eight other children were born to them, seven of whom survive. The surviving ten sons and daughters are: Alvy Baum, Encampment, Wyoming; Clarence Baum, Strawberry; James Forest Ivie, Fruitland; Mrs. Ethel Clegg, Tabiona; Irvin Ivie, Strawberry; Mrs. Alice Firth, Strawberry; Raleigh R. Ivie, Strawberry; Dale Ivie, Strawberry; Mrs. Juliaette Bair, Strawberry and Mrs. LaPreal Campbell, Cedar City. Other survivors are: her husband, James Gilbert Ivie, Strawberry; a sister, Mrs. Lizzie Angel, Levan and two brothers, Will Pierce, Pleasant Grove and Joseph Myler, Provo and twenty-two grandchildren.

Mrs. Lizzie Angel of Lazan was here during the illness and death of her sister, Mrs. Julia M. Ivie.
A large crowd of relatives and friends paid tribute to Mrs. Julia M. Ivie Tuesday at the ward house in Strawberry.
