O. Arthur Olsen
O. Arthur Olsen, 94, went home to be with his Lord following a brief illness on September 29, 2009 at Willow Valley Lakes Manor. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Einar and Inga Olsen. Arthur was a devoted husband to his late wife, Ruth Olsen, for over 70 years until her passing in 2007. He was also preceded in death by his older sister, Ingrid.
Arthur was known for his young energetic spirit. He loved golfing and world traveling, but most of all he loved his family and doing the Lord's work.
Surviving are daughters: Janice, wife of John Swanson of Whippany, NJ, Joy Elaine Olpp of Green Village, NJ and a son, Douglas Olsen of Cape Coral, FL. Arthur also has six grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
Services celebrating Arthur's life will be on Saturday, October 3, 2009 in Thomas Auditorium located at Lakes Manor, 300 Willow Valley Lakes Dr., Willow Street, PA beginning at 11:00 a.m. Friends may visit with the family immediately following the service. It was Arthur's wishes that interment be private in the Willow Street Mennonite Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Camp Spofford, PO Box 162, Spofford, NH 03462 or to Hospice of Lancaster County, PO Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604. Dewald Funeral & Cremation Services in Quarryville is assisting the family.
