He proudly served in the Army National Guard of Utah with the C Btry, 1st Bn, 145th FA, Smithfield unit. He retired with an honorable discharge after 20 years of service. He has worked for Wurlitzer, Weather Shield, and for the last 16 years at Icon Health and Fitness.
Dad was a man of routine. If he wasnt working, you could always find him at Angies, at home or with his family. He was so proud of finally buying his own home close to his family. His world centered around his family. There wasnt a soccer, volleyball, softball, or basketball game that he missed when his grandchildren were involved. He was known as Grandpa to everyone and was given the Most Devoted Fan award by the Wellsville soccer team.
He loved the mountains and being outdoors. He never missed a camping or hunting trip with the family. He was a friend to everyone he met and will be greatly missed by us all.
He is survived by his daughter, Teresa (Larry) Hall; grandchildren: Jackie, Brittany, Brianna and Tayson, all of Wellsville; daughter, Denise (Johnny) Allen; grandchildren: Skyler, Jordan, Taylor and Megan of Logan. Brothers: Gary (Gale) of Nibley; Pete (Susan) of Providence; Craig (Stephanie) of Providence; Tony (Michelle) of Millville; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, a brother, Alma DelRay and sister-in-law, Susan Kendrick Obray.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday, September 1, 2005 at the Wellsville 4th Ward chapel, 49 West 200 South, with Bishop Don Durrant officiating. Friends and family may call Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Home, 162 East 400 North and Thursday morning from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the church prior to services.
