CHARLES BOUCK DEAD
An Old-fashioned Democrat, Son of a Governor of New York

Charles Bouck of Fultonham, N.Y., died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Charles Ezra Cornell, at Cayuga Heights, Ithaca, yesterday afternoon, where, owing to advanced age, he had been residing for the past three or four years. He was the youngest son of William C. Bouck, governor of the state in 1843-4, and at the time of his death lacked only five days of being 81 years of age. He was educated at the Albany Academy, and married Juliet Eleanor Bouck of Fultonham, N.Y. On the death of his father he inherited Bouck's Island, the ancestral home, which was granted by George II of England to his great, great grandfather by letters patent dated May 31, 1755, and thereafter he devoted himself to agricultural pursuits.

Mr. Bouck was an ardent Democrat of the old-fashioned type. He was elected a member of the board of supervisors by his townsmen in 1859 and 1865 by almost unanimous vote and in 1878 he represented Schoharie county in the Legislature.

He was a member of the Episcopal church, a Mason, belonging to the lodge located at Middleburg, and he was also a charter member of the Fultonham Grange. Besides Mrs. Charles E. Cornell, Mr. Bouck left a daughter, Mrs. H.W. Cornell, of Ithaca, and two sons, William C. Bouck, of Oshkosh, Wis., and Charles D. Bouck, of Etna, N.Y.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 3 o'clock from his residence.
