Mr. Christopher Duff died near Kully Chaha, C.N. Sunday night, the 6th inst. at 9:40 p.m., after a weeks illness from pneumonia. He was in the 50th year of his age. He leaves a wife and a daughter nearly grown. Mr. Duff was a well known citizen of this country having resided in and about Fort Smith since 18?8. In 1852, when quite a youth he enlisted in the United States army as a drummer boy. He continued in the service of the government until 1868, and when mustered out at that time held the position of ordinance sergeant. During his residence in Fort Smith he was elected city marshal at three consecutive elections. He also held the office of township constable several terms. During the latter part of his life he engaged in farming. His funeral took place last Tuesday afternoon at 3 p.m. from the residence of Mr. Frank Rounds, at the corner of 11th and Mulberry streets. His remains were interred in the National cemetery.
