ANDREW JACKSON ROSS is a native of Wabash County. He was born November 30, 1843. His father, William O. Ross, was a native of Connecticut and was by profession a lawyer; his mother, Julia, was a native of Tennessee. They came to Wabash County in 1838. Mr. Ross is one of a family of twelve children, all of whom are now living except Capt. Levi Ross, who died while in service of his country.
Mr. Ross enlisted in the Forty-first Regiment Second Indiana Cavalry September 2, 1861; he was honorably discharged on account of disability, arising from injuries received while in the line of duty.
In 1866 he engaged in the hardware business, which he continued until 1881, when he formed a partnership with his brother James P., in the foundry and machine works of Wabash.
He was married February 24, 1866 to Miss Mattie Kennedy of Rush County, Ind.
October 18, 1882, John Whisler, Senior and Junior, became members of the firm of Ross Bros., which is now known as Ross Bros' & Whislers' Foundry, Machine & Wagon Works. Mr. Ross is an influential member of the Methodist Episcopal Church, a staunch Republican, and a man who has gained the respect and confidence of all all who know him.
Cause of death: Heart failure.
