Shelby County Missouri 1928.
--The subject of this sketch, Wm. Z. T. Peoples, son of John and Rebecca Peoples, was born in Shelby county, Mo., the 12th day of March, 1849; departed this life January 9, 1928; being at the time of his death 78 years, 9 months and 28 days old.
--He had lived in the county all his life. Owned and operated a farm 3 1/4 miles southeast of Leonard, Mo. Was married to Mary Alice Garnett the 4th day of May, 1871. To this union one child was born, N. W. Peoples.
--He confessed his faith in the Christ under the ministry of Elder E. M. Crow in December, 1887, in a revival meeting at the Chick school house. He was one of the prime movers and builders of the Berea Christian church and one of its charter members and held his membership there until death.
--His wife, Mary Alice, having preceded him in death Sept. 8, 1900, he was married to Miss Florence Taylor of Kansas, January 16, 1907, Rev. C. E. Wagner officiating.
--He was a stockholder and one of the prime movers of the organization of the Farmers Bank of Leonard and became its first president. He bought property and moved to Leonard in the fall of 1907.
--He was a liberal giver and took up the work of his Master's kingdom, with his brethren of the Leonard church but never forgot his home church. He was a faithful attendant at church services and his Bible school class until eight months ago when sickness prevented his attendance. He lived and practiced the teaching of the Golden Rule.
--He leaves to mourn his departure, his beloved wife, one son, N. W. Peoples, who resides on the home farm; one brother, Solomon Peoples of Tangier, Okla., and one sister, Mrs. Mary E. Tuggle of Shelbyville, and a host of relatives and friends.
--Funeral services were in charge of Rev. Y. T. Wood of Warrensburg, Mo. Burial in the old Peoples family burying ground.

--W. Z. T. Peoples, aged nearly 79 years and a life time resident of Shelby county, died at his home at Leonard, where he had been living for the past 20 years, Monday. Death was due to a complication of diseases and came after an illness of about eight months duration.
--Several years ago he was married to Miss Abbie Garnett, who died 27 years ago. To them was born one son, N. W. Peoples of Leonard, who survives. He is also survived by the second wife, formerly Miss Florence Taylor, to whom he was married Jan. 6, 1907.
--In addition to the above relatives, he is survived by one brother and one sister, Solomon Peoples of Woodward, Okla., and Mrs. Mary Tuggle of Shelbyville.
--He was a member of the Berea Christian church. Funeral services were held at the late home at 2 o'clock this afternoon, conducted by Rev. Wood of Warrensburg, Mo. Interment was in the Peoples cemetery on the farm near Leonard.
