Yvonne J. Gannon, of Holdrege, NE., passed away on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at the Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege, NE., surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Yvonne was born on November 7, 1923 in Arnold, Nebraska to her parents: Lauritz and Selma (Oman) Nelson.
Yvonne had five brothers: Andrew, Kenneth, Glen, Lanqfort and Herman and one sister, Grace. She spent most of her growing up years in Arnold, NE. and completed her education and graduated from high school in Selma, CA. in 1941. She was united in marriage to Emmett Gannon in Kearney, NE., on October 12, 1946. To this union five children were born: William, Richard, Barbara, Rebecca and Robert. They moved to Holdrege in 1957, when Emmett took a position as an elementary school principal. Yvonne stayed at home to raise her five children until 1965. She then began working at the First National Bank of Holdrege, NE. until her retirement in 1987.
Yvonne's hobbies and interests were any activity that her children and grandchildren were involved in. Whenever her children were in involved in a sport, in music, or drama she was always there as their greatest fan. After retirement, Yvonne took every opportunity she could to watch her grandchildren and great-grandchildren in their activities, traveling to Aurora, Laurel, Columbus, Kearney, Nebraska and Colorado. Apart from her relationship with Jesus, her greatest joy was her children and their spouses, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Yvonne is survived by: sons: Bill Gannon and wife, Ann of Columbus, NE. and their three children: Chris and wife, Katie, Ellie and husband, Aaron, and Drew; Dick Gannon and his wife, Cheri of Holdrege, NE. and their four children: Chad and wife, Michelle, Lindsay and husband, Jared, Justin and wife, Andrea, and Jami and husband, Seth; Bob Gannon and his wife, Kerry of Kearney, NE. and their three children: Emmett and wife, Setera, AnnDee, and Jackson; daughters: Barb Tallant and her husband, Jim of Highlands Ranch, CO. and their two children: Michael and Matthew; and Becky Lehmer of Aurora, NE. and her two children: Jen and Kelley; great-grandchildren; nephew, Larry Nelson of Shelby, Montana; niece, Doris Garrison of Long Beach, CA.
Besides her parents, Yvonne was preceded in death by her husband, Emmett on January 19, 1988 and her siblings.
Inurnment was in the Prairie Home Cemetery, Holdrege, NE.
