Gerrit was the son of Gerritt and Josie (Runia) Vander Weerdt Sr. He was a proud veteran of World War Two.On the 14 March 1949 he married Isabelle Mathilda Terlow. Gerrit was a retired rural mail carrier from 1967-1990. He was a Lifetime member of Sully Christian Reformed Church and served on the board there. He is survived by 5 children, 11 grandchildren, 4 great grandsons, 2 sister-in-laws and several nieces and nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Isabelle, his sister, Anna Hardeman in 1988, and three brothers, Brandt in 1994, and twins Henry and John in 2001.
