Memorial services were held for Miss Winnie
Cook, Sunday, November 26, 1972 at 2:00
p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in
Frankfort, Kansas with the Reverend Coyne
Gifford officiating.
Burial was in the Frankfort Cemetery,
Frankfort, Kansas.
Miss Cook passed away Thanksgiving Day at
the Dechairo Hospital in Westmoreland,
Kansas following a heart attack at the age of
87 years, 5 months, and 16 days.
Winnie May was born June 7, 1885 on a farm
west of Winifred, Kansas and lived all of her
life in and around Frankfort, Kansas.
Winnie was the first born of Joseph and Alpha
B. Cook and had six brothers and sisters all of
whom are deceased except one sister, Mrs.
Lana Belle Winters with whom she lived the
past twenty years.
Miss Cook had been a member of the First
Presbyterian Church in Frankfort over seventy
five years also a charter member of the
Frankfort Rebekah Lodge for over fifty years
and a member of the American Legion
Auxiliary.
She owned a Millinery Store for a great many
years and was known far and wide for her
beautiful hats. She later worked for Mr. and
Mrs. Ted Trump in the Trump Apron Factory
and for Mr. and Mrs. Neil Torgerson after
they purchased the factory.
She is survived by her sisters, Lana Belle
Winters of the home; four nieces, two
nephews and one great-great niece.
