David Redman Burbank, Sr. was the youngest of four children born to Eleazer Ambrose Burbank and his wife Abby Adelaide Wyman. David, Sr. began his employment with the New Jersey railroad company as a clerk, and retired as the railroad's assistant secretary.

David, Sr. was united in marriage on April 26, 1905 in Manhattan, New York to Ethel Howard Bradner. David, Sr. and Ethel were blessed with the birth of three sons during their 29 year marriage:

David Redman Burbank, Jr.
Edmund (Ted) Gibson Burbank
John Howard (Jack) Burbank, MD.

David, Sr. passed away at the young age of 63 years old. His beloved wife Helen survived him by 33 years. They are interred together in Valleau Cemetery. David, Sr. was known as "Grandaddy Burbank" to his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
