Chauncey Otto Dowd, the son of John Francis
and Ella Dowd was born August 3, 1906 at
Atwood, Kansas.
Most of his life was spent at Hutchinson. He
married to Mary Jane Craig in Kimball, Neb-
raska and they made their home in Hutchison,
Kansas.
This union was blessed with six daughters and
three sons all of whom survive.
The moved to Winifred, Kansas in 1950 then
to Frankfort, Kansas in 1954 making this
their home since that time.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Jane; Mrs.
Earl (Clara) Chism, George Lee, Josephine,
Mrs. Dewey (Shirley Ann) Smith, Chauncey
Jr. Betty Lou, John Henry, Sharon Kay, and
Katherine sue; two grandchildren; one sister,
Mrs. George Heffern, Wichita, Kansas; and
a brother, John (Jack) Dowd, Denver, Colo-
rado. He is also survived by his father-in-
law John Craig of Shenandoah, Iowa.
Funeral services were held Monday, July 1,
1957 at the Methodist Church in Frankfort,
Kansas for Chauncey O. Dowd who passed
away in Marysville, Kansas, Friday morning
June 26, 1957.
Burial was in the Frankfort Cemetery,
Frankfort, Kansas.
Pallbearers were George Starr, Guy Steckel,
Walter Jefferies, Winifred Lucas, Loren
Bronaugh and John Kurtz.
