JACK COUNTY PIONEER DIES

Graham, Texas (Special) -
Mrs. Mary E. Denning, 91, resident of Jack County for 87 years, died Sunday morning at her home in Bryson.

Mrs. Denning, who is survived by 41 grandchildren, 73 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren, moved to Jack County from Parker County when she was four years old.

Services are scheduled for 3:00 p.m. Monday at the Bryson Church of Christ of which she was a charter member. Officiating will be Wayne Baze, church minister. Burial will be in Cottonwood Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.

Mrs. Denning was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Hill. She was married to S.H. Denning who died in 1952.

Other survivors include nine sons, T.A. and Charles of Graham, O.W. of Floydada, Matt, Clarence, Luther and Douglas of Bryson, Homer of Sweetwater and Houston of Seymour; four daughters, Mrs. Ethel Cullers of Albuquerque, N.M., Mrs. Sterling Avants of Bryson, Mrs. I.G. Coly of Jacksboro and Mrs. Ernest Cowden of Graham.

Four brothers who survive also are Alex, Rob and Hardin Hill of Graham and Ed Hill of Wichita, Kansas.

Mary Emaline Hill was born October 12, 1867 and died May 3, 1959. She was the daughter of John W. Tobe Hill and Mary Jane Walden. Samuel Houston Denning and Mary Emmaline Hill were married October 9, 1842 in Lauderdale County, Alabama.

Samuel Houston Denning married Mary Emaline (Sissy) Hill on December 4, 1884 in Jack County, Texas. They lived on their farm South of Bryson and raised a family of 13 children.
