Joe R. Shaffer, 74, of Tilton, passed away Monday, Sept. 28, 2009, at Vermilion Manor Nursing Home.
He was born in Urbana to Joseph C. and Ora Sinkes Shaffer. He married Patricia Branham on Jan. 26, 1969, in Danville. She preceded him in November 2006.
Survivors include daughters, Cris Shaffer and Tammy (Jim) Caputo; son, Rick (Amelia) Shaffer; three stepchildren, Jeannie (Thomas) Watson and Connie Duckworth and Pamela Creamer; a brother, Ron (Sharon) Shaffer; a sister, Phyllis Nightlinger; a brother-in-law, Bill Branham; a special granddaughter, Kaylee Turner; 18 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father; a son; a great-granddaughter and two brothers-in-law.
