Mary Ellen Harmon was born in Claremont to William Henry Harmon Sr. and Mary Bennett.


Mary Ellen was married 4 times, after the death of 3rd husband, her 4th marriage was annulled as she didn't want to live in the country, she liked living in town.


1st: Mollie Harmon 20 years, a daughter of Henry Harmon & Mary Bennett of Claremont married 8 Dec 1883 to Melvin Ennis 24, Farmer, born in Morgan Co. Ind son of James Ennis & Elizabeth Pierce of Oblong, Crawford Co. IL. J.H. Parkard,Justice of Peace of Olney, IL., married Mary Ellen Harmon & Melvin Ennis.


Melvin & Mary Ennis and 3 children, Jeff, Odis, Lulu and Melvin's parents & siblings, loaded up wagons and they all went to Poplar Bluff, Butler Co. Mo., for work. While they were there, Charles E. Ennis was born 5 Sep 1889. Melvin's mother died 26 Dec 1888 and Melvin 35 years died 13 Jan 1890. They are both buried in the City Cemtery in Popular Bluff. Mary Ellen and 4 children, rode a train back and lived with her Dad and Mom, Wm Henry & Mary Bennett Harmon.


2nd: Mrs Mary Ennis 29 married 3 Jan 1892 to Nicholas Fore 33 of Jasper Co, son of Joseph Fore and Mary Shelton. The marriage took place at her father's residence in Claremont, by G.W. Fulk, J.P. This marriage ended with Mary Ellen divorcing Nicholas.


3rd: Mrs Mary Fore 32, Henry Bellinger 38 born in Vicksburg, Warren Co. Mississippi, son of Luther Bellinger and Rebecca Redman (Redding) were married on 21 Nov 1895 by Court Judge, T.W.Hutchinson in Olney,IL.


On 18 Jun 1900 Census, living Mt Pleasant Lane, Claremont Twp. Richland Co. IL., Henry Bellinger 44 Farmer, Mary(Harmon)32 keeping house, been married 5 years having 6 children with 6 living; Florence 3, Nora 8 months, step children; Jeff Ennis 16, Otis Ennis 15, Charles Ennis 11,

(Lulu Ennis is not listed) Mother: Rebecca Redding Bellinger 78 years is Widow.


The Census 9 Apr 1930, Oak St. Olney, IL., Henry Bellinger 74 years with wife Mary [Harmon]67 keeping house, 2 Grandaughters living with them. Mabel [Dunlap] Powell 11 and Violet [Dunlap] Harmon 16 married.


Death of Husband, Henry Bellinger died on 28 May 1933 in Olney, Richland County, IL., with burial in Mt Pleasant Cemetery.

4th: Mrs Mary [Harmon] Bellinger 70 years of Olney and Mr J. W. Jones 81 years of Calhoun, married 2 Mar 1937 in Olney, IL. Mary Ellen did not want to live in the country and had the marriage annual.


DEATH OF MRS. MARY BELLINGER:

Mrs. Mary Bellinger, age 87 passed away last evening after a lingering illness at the Richey Nursey Home.


She is survived by 2 daughters, Mrs Nora Powell, East St Louis and Mrs Ethel Way, Hesperia, Michigan and three sons, Charles Ennis, Jeff Ennis and Ottis Ennis and daughter Lulu Anders who had preceded her in death.


Also surviving are 14 Grandchilden, 37 Great Grandchildren and 6 Great Great Grandchildren.


Funeral services will be held on Thursday afternoon, 2:00 pm in the chapel of Olney Funeral Home, with Rev R W Green in charge. Interment will be held in Mt Pleasant Cemetery.

The body will remain at the Funeral Home, where friends may call.
