Additional information given to me 9-4-12 by Elaine Rose: Sierra was born in Sierra County, California which seems logical due to her name; however, I have a 1870 US Census for the Table Rock Township lists the Joshua Ricks household as follows: Joshua Ricks, 41 years old, Farm born in Missouri. Jane Ricks age 46 years old Housekeeper, born in Kentucky; William Ricks 20 years old Farm laborer born in Missouri; Sierra Nevada Ricks 14 years old at home born in Missouri; Frank Ricks 12 years old at home, born in Missouri; Ida Ricks 6 years old at home born in Californi; and Caroline Ricks 26 years old at home born in Missouri. Caroline, at some period was a midwife in Little Shasta according to the writings of Anna Soule Drever who was the Postmaster of Little Shasta from Oct. 21, 1913 until the office was discontinued Sept. 30, 1920 and mail sent to Montague.

Elaine tells me that Sierra's death certificate is No. 1617 from Heppner, Oregon.

Father, Joshua Ricks was born 1829 Lincoln County, Missouri and mother, Isabella Jane Hobbs born 1824 Nelson County, Kentucky. They lived at Little Shasta, Siskiyou County, California when Sierra was 14 years old.

Ida Ricks, sister of Sierra, married James Madison Wilkinson. She died 22 June 1899, near Heppner and is buried in the old section of the Masonic Cemetery, her records were destroyed in the Heppner Courthouse..and there is no name marker. She was born 5 April 1864 in Sacramento, Calif
