Capt. Timothy Strong is the son of Timothy Strong and Anne Bartlett Rogers; husband of Clarissa Stoddard Terrill; father of Nancy Strong Damon, Alfred Strong, Flora Strong Fisher, Lemira Strong Colby, and Nelson Strong. There are no military records for him in Vermont during the War of 1812, but he did run the local tavern. Many tavern owners headed local militias. Another option for his title is training as a sea captain. Other young men in Woodbury trained as sea captains, and there was a great focus on sheep breeding in Woodbury (Cothren's History of Ancient Woodbury). Letters from Lemira Damon Doe to Lemira Strong Colby reference trips to Hamilton, Bermuda. There seemed to be an unmentioned common history centered in Hamilton.

There is an 1830 census record for Timothy Strong in Arcadia, Wayne, New York. This record does not seem to match other NY residents with the same name plus it explains his son Nelson meeting Diana Moon of the same town at that time. (Timothy C. Strong moved from Palmyra 1820 to Albion by 1830, and the other Timothy Strong remained in Cayuga County from 1820-1840 and his death.)

There are also and records for Timothy Strong in Arcadia, Wayne Co. (1830) and (son) Alfred Strong in Palmyra, Wayne Co (1829-1832). They both seem to have bought canal-front property and defaulted on their mortgages. See the first column of The Wayne Sentinel 21 May 1830:

Thank goodness for Old Fulton Postcards!!

Burial unknown, died in 3 Feb 1835 per DAR application of Flora Chisholm & SAR application for Carlton Strong. A family Bible page lists him as "died Feb the 1825" in Cabot (VT), so he may have died while visiting his daughter Nancy Strong Damon or Flora Strong Fisher and the "2" in 1825 is an error. There is no record of his death nor burial in Cabot.

A biography of his great grandson, Charles W. Strong, lists his death as "Albion County, New York."

There is also a slight chance that he died in Chicago or en route to Chicago. Several of his descendants moved there. It is also likely that he died in Arcadia, NY or Barre, NY.
