Mary I. Jessup, 97 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed
away on Monday, August 19, 2013 in the Village of Heritage
in Monroeville. She had been living there for the past 2 1/2
years.
She was born on Wednesday, September 29, 1915 in Fort
Wayne, Indiana the daughter of the late William F. Kohls and
the late Florence (Stump) Kohls. She married Charles E.
Jessup on July 1, 1951 in Decatur, Indiana and he passed
away on January 20, 1996.
Mary was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ in
Decatur and their Friendship Circle. She was also a member
of the Eastern Star for over 50 years. She was employed by
Niblick's in Decatur.
Surviving are her son, Neil (Susan) Keller of Decatur;
daughter, Marcia Kohler of Elkhart, Indiana; seven
grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and five great
great-grandchildren.
Preceding Mary in death were a granddaughter, Elizabeth
Souder; a daughter, Judy K. Williamson; and five sisters,
Evelyn Strickler; Kathryn Heller; Flora Belle Faulkner; Helen J.
Grahm and Barbara Newton.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August
22, 2013 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home. Interment will ​
follow in the Decatur Cemetery. Friends will be received from
1 to 2 p.m., Thursday, August 22 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral
Home in Decatur.
Preferred memorials are to Zion United Church of Christ or
Family LifeCare in Berne, Indiana.
