William Elza Bias was born on March 17, 1907 to Mary Elizabeth Jenkins Bias and Riley Monroe Bias. He lived the majority of his life in Huntington, Cabell County, West Virginia which is where he married Wandergold Amanda Gifford in 1926. William Elza (also known as Elzy) was only 19 at the time. Elzy and Wandergold Amanda were blessed with two daughters, Janice Lee and Nancy Lou. He became an engineer mechanic for the C&O Railroad. This job took them to Portsmouth, Virginia for a short while from 1938-1948. When they returned, he continued with his job with the railroad and eventually retired with the railroad. Elzy and Wandergold settled at 415 Roland Court in Huntington and this is the home they shared until their deaths. On April 26, 1982, Elzy suffered a heart attack and died.
