RALPH LONGENECKER DIES IN PHILADELPHIA

Attorney was Solicitor of Trust Company in Pittsburgh until 1906, Ralph Longencker, a member of the Allengheny county bar, died in the Orthopedic Hospital in Philadelphia Wednesday.

Mr. Longenecker was born October 6, 1873, in Bedford,the son of Judge and Mrs. Jacob H. Longenecker, of Bedford, and after preparatory education at Blair Academy, Blairstown, N. J., entered Yale University and was graduated with the class of 1894. Going to Pittsburg in 1895, he registered as a law student with the firm of McClung & Evans.

He attended the Pittsburg Law school, from which he was graduated with honors in June, 1897, being the honor man of his class, and was made a member of the faculty of his law school.

He was admitted to practice in June, 1897, in Allegheny county. He continued his association with the firm of McClung & Evans until its dissolution by the elevation of Judge Evans to the common pleas bench. Mr. Longenecker then became associated for a while with William H. McClung. Subsequently in 1899 he opened an office in the St. Nicholas building with L M Plumer, Edward B. Scull and Edwin S. Craig.

After the formation of the Iron City Trust Company, in 1903, Mr. Longenecker became its solicitor and removed his office to the banking institution of that company, where he remained until 1906.

The firm of Gordon and Smith, composed of George B Gordon, William Watson Smith and Ralph Longenecker, Allen T.C. Gordon and Alexander Black was formed in 1909. As a member of that firm, Mr. Longenecker established himself as one of the leading and most through members of the bar.

In October, 1902, Mr. Longenecker was married to Grace Chambers Humbird, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.James S. Humbird, of this city, and for several years lived at 3 Von Lent place. He leaves his widow and four children; Catherine, 12 years old; Eleanor, 7 years old; Ralph Longenecker, Jr.; 5 years,old, and John Russell Longenecker,, Jr.,3 years old.

He also leaves his father and mother of Bedford, and two brothers, S. Russell Longenecker, attorney of Bedford, and Charles Longenecker of New Rochelle, N. Y.

Mr. Longenecker was an active member of the Shadyside Presbyterian Church, of the Duquesne Club, Pittsburg Golf Club, University Club, Pittsburg Athletic Association, and of the Fellowship Lodge No. 679 of Free and Accepted Masons.

Funeral services were conducted at his home by Rev Doc. Kerr, pastor of the Shadyside Presbyterian Church.
