Hubbell Times: Two of Alden Luce's children were drowned. They had gone out on the ice to play when it broke and let them through into the cold and murky water. There were three of them on the ice, but assistance came in time to save one of them, but the other two, ages five and six, were too far gone for resuscitation when recovered. This is one of the saddest incidents in the history of Rose Creek and the sorrowing parents have the tenderest sympathies of the community in which they live.
