THE PARIS NEWS, FEBRUARY 23, 1984 - Ed Welch, of Route 2, Sumner, in the Maxey Community, died Saturday February 18, 1984, at St. Joseph's Hospital. Survices were held Monday, February 20, at Fry and Gibbs Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Mt. Vernon Cemetery at Maxey. The Rev. Jerry Moore and the Rev. Joe Blackshear officiating. Masonic graveside rites were conducted by Collins Lodge No. 356 of Tigertown.

Mr. Welch was born November 5, 1907, in Lamar County, a son of William A. Welch and Louisa McFatridge Welch. He attended Maxey schools and married Estelle Hodges on January 9, 1928, in Paris. He was employed by Pioneer Naturan Gas Co. in Lubbock for about 20 years. He and his wife moved to Maxey in 1972. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Lubbock and of Collins Masonic Lodge No. 356 in Tigertown.

Surviving are his wife; one daughter; one son; and six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren; one sister and a number of nieces and nephews.
