Charles C. Babcock
Charles Clark BABCOCK, 71, former Rochester resident, died Monday at 9:05 p.m. in the Robert Long hospital at Indianapolis, after a lingering illness. He had resided at Indianapolis since 1927.
Mr. Babcock owned a Ford auto agency in Indianapolis until retiring in 1953. Since that time he had operated a farm in Marion county. Born Jan. 20, 1892, in LaPorte, he was the son of Clark and Louise PETERSON BABCOCK. He moved with his parents to Fulton and then to Rochester, where he was reared.
He worked at the former Sol Allman clothing store here, moved to Chicago and returned to Rochester in 1924 to operate the Ford auto agency.
His marriage was to Elizabeth JOHNSON, who survives. Also surviving are an uncle, J. R. BABCOCK, Bradenton, Fla.; an aunt, Mrs. B. B. MUSSON, Hudson, Mich., and several nieces and nephews. A brother, Fred [BABCOCK], died in 1920.
Mr. Babcock was a 32nd Degree Mason; a member of the Rochester Masonic and Royal Arch lodges, Knights Templar at Plymouth, Scottish Rite and Murat Shrine at Indianapolis and Knights of Pythias of Rochester.
Funeral rites will be Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Flanner and Buchanan Fall Creek mortuary in Indianapolis, where friends may call after Wednesday noon. Graveside rites will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. in the Rochester I.O.O.F. cemetery.
