Born in Brownfield, Texas, the son of Margaret Rhea Glendon and William Hoyt Maroney. He was a 1970 graduate of Permian High School. After high school, he entered the U.S. Navy. He was stationed at the Grand Prairie Naval Installation between Dallas and Fort Worth. He was residing in Arlington and had been there 9 months. He died at his residence on March 11, 1975 by self inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
