Meredith Eugene Keeney of Lizton died May 4 (2002) at the Hendricks Community Hospital in Danville. He was 83. Born Oct. 1, 1918 in Hendricks County, he was a son of the late Charles Otis and Iva Inez (Rutledge) Keeney. He married Edna Griffith who survives.

Mr. Keeney worked 22 years as owner and operator of the Keeney Hatchery in Lizton, 12 years as a school bus driver, five years as a representative for agricultural products at the Indiana Pythian Home and nine years as a grand secretary for the Knights of Pythias. He was past supreme representative of the Knights of Pythias and a member of Dramatic Order Knights of Khorassan, Nomads
of Avrudaka, Pythian Sisters of Lizton, Pittsboro Lodge #620 F&AM, Pittsboro Chapter #416 Order of the Eastern Star and #8 York Rite.

Additional survivors include a daughter, Sue Ellen Hendricks of Lebanon; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services were May 8 at the Pittsboro Christian Church with the Revs. Sue McDougal and V. J. Stover officiating. Interment was at the Knights of Pythias Cemetery in Lizton. David A. Hall Mortuary in Pittsboro handled arrangements.
