Annie Pollock Mars, born June 21, 1888, on 8 Church Street, Johnstone, Renfrewshire, Scotland. She and her younger twin, Elizabeth Stewart Mars, were the 7th and 8th children born in Scotland to Irish-born parents, James Greer Mars and Rachel Thompson.

Annie, her parents and most of her siblings were active in the good works of the Salvation Army. She and twin sister Elizabeth, nicknamed Lily, were famous as the Worcester Twins who sang at many venues, funerals, and at the Worcester Hospital every Wednesday afternoon, entertaining the patients. Elizabeth played the autoharp and sang harmony to her Annie's soprano voice.

Annie and Elizabeth recorded 2 religious songs on a 78 record. Sara Glidden (granddaughter of Annie and Elizabeth's sister, Sarah (Mars) Ryan, gave one of the records to Harold Edward White (named for his Uncle Harold Edward Brewer) who made several tapes and CDs from the original which are now owned by his daughter Catherine Elizabeth (White) Gallagher.
