Affa Whitcomb Baillet, (4/11/1807 Scottsdale, PA-3/20/1888), was born the daughter of John Skinner Whitcomb (1758-1830)and Sally Marsh Whitcomb (1762-1854).

She married Felix Baillet (11/22/1802 Phil, PA-3/26/1894 NY). The family used Bailett (1855-1850 census), Baylett (1870 census) or Baillette (1855 census). I wondered why the use of three different spelling for their name.

Their children were: Sarah Baillet (1833-), Jane (Jennie)Baillet (12/1/1834 Farmersville, NY-10/1/1918 Tullahoma, Coffee, TN), John Whitcomb (JW) Baillet (3/12/1837-1/31/1864-), Emma Baillet (1838-1929), Eugene Baillet (1842-1863) (Abrigail), Napoleon (Pole) B. Baillet (11/4/1843), Frances Bailet (1848-1909) Lupher (Jacob) and Affa Ann Bailet (1850-1934).

Known grandchildren were: Harry Lupher, Eugenia (-9/18/1885 4 months and 18 days)and Mary Lupher (died as an infant).

For Affa, amd Felix, there ar two burial places listed in different document, Limestone Cemetery and Oakland Cemetery in TN.

A memorial stone is set up in the Limestone cemetery for son Eugene and J. W. is said to be buried there, too. I will do more research on this in the spring.

On July 1, 1863, the first day of the Battle of Gettysburg son, Eugene was taken prisoner, his regiment was overtaked by Robert E Lee's army and she never saw him again. (Web: Middle TN Arts).

The remaining members of the Baillett family moved to Tennessee, where they built their home around an older home and it bacame known as the Ballet Home and in 1968 this home became the Tullehoma Fine Arts Center. Little was changed in the home, space was added on and bathrooms remodeled.(Web: Middle TN Arts)

Affa Ann, Jennie, and Emma had a millinery business and at least Affa was a famous artist. The Ballet Home is said to be haunted by one or more of the sister. To this day amateur ghost hunters visit the home. (Web: Middle TN Arts)
