Ellis Garrett

Lexington -- Ellis H. Garrett, 86, who served as custodian of Lexington Schools for 38 years prior to his retirement, died at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 19, 1974 at Brokaw Hospital, Normal.

His funeral was held on Saturday, December 21, 1974 at the Musselman Funeral Home, with the Rev. H. Corson O'Brien officiating. Burial was in Lexington Cemetery.

He was born in Kentucky, December 16, 1888, a son of Joseph and Miranda Haggard Garrett. He married Bess Rockel September 18, 1913, at Lexington.

Surviving are his wife, Queenwood Shelter Care Home, Morton; four daughters, Mrs. Verneil Siron, Lexington; Mrs. Rhea Class, Washington; Mrs. Jeanne Glenn, Newark; Mrs. Sherrilyn Poorbaugh, Tremont; 15 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

A daughter, five brothers and a sister preceded him in death.

He was a member of the Lexington Church of Christ Uniting.
