LESTER CORBITT DIES EARLY TODAY

Widely Known Cotton Broker Succumbs At Hospital

G. Lester Corbitt, 42, prominent cotton broker died at 1:05 this morning at Benevolent Society Hospital where he was taken for an emergency operation. The body was prepared for burial at Priest's later being returned to the residence in the Peebles apartments.

Funeral rites will be conducted Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 at the Central Methodist church with the Rev. Ira F. Hawkins officiating. Interment will be at Roselawn cemetery in charge of Priest.

Mr. Corbitt is survived by his widow; one son, George Lester, of Decatur; his father, J. N. Corbitt of Abbeville; three brothers, J. D. of Decatur; J. L. of Miami, Fla., and J. D. of Abbeville; a sister, Mrs. W. A. Weems, of Miami, Fla.

Active pallbearers will be: W. P. Dozier, W. J. Duncan, J. B. Bradford, Carl Lee, Early Phinizy, Harry Reece, A. C. Bailey and Fred Robinson.

The following will be honorary pallbearers: Pruitt Sims, C. D. Patterson, P. P. Gilchrist, Mr. Burch, James Ratliff, Earl Lee, M. R. Rankin, Dr. J. Y. Hamil, B. A. Campbell, W. B. Markstein, John E. Wilks, J. A. Loomis, John Brannon, S. H. Carlisle, G. R. Mason, S. G. McDuff, John Davis, Ed Bailey, Willie Norton, Robert Banks, Ben Miller, Gene Polytinsky, Tom Russell, Elbert Patterson and W. S. Garth.

Mr. Corbitt came to Decatur about nine years ago to enter the cotton business and had resided here continuously since that time. He was well known throughout North Alabama and enjoyed the esteem of large numbers of friends.
