Groat was born Dec. 8, 1912, in Dexter, Kan., to Martin and Edna Church Myers.
She graduated from Stephens College in Missouri and received her teaching credential from the University of Oregon. She worked as a school teacher in Westfir, Lowell and Pleasant Hill. She enjoyed travel, camping, playing cards, gardening and crocheting afghans.
Survivors include her domestic partner of 22 years, William Kelly; three daughters, Norma Flower and Betty Palanuk, both of Lowell, and Patricia Howard of Pleasant Hill, Calif.; a stepson, James Groat of Eugene; a sister, Martha Hannaford of Tulsa, Okla.; eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Two husbands died previously: Norbert Ellis on Dec. 9, 1965, and George Groat on Jan. 26, 1983.
No service is planned. Andreason's Cremation & Burial Service in Eugene is in charge of arrangements.
