Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church in this city, to which faith he had subscribed since he was a young man, at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, conducted by the Rev. Elmer Peal and interment was in Little Prairie cemetery. Members of his family in Cape Girardeau including Mr. and Mrs. C.A. Vandivort and son Russell and Mr. and Mrs. Leon Vandivort started here to attend the funeral but were turned back at Sikeston because of the dangerous roads, which were coated with ice for several miles that day. A sister-in-law, Mrs. Sam Vandivort, who had come earlier, attended the rites.
The deceased was a native of Cape Girardeau, having been born there May 8, 1885 and being a little less than 61 years of age at his death. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Vandivort, long-time resident of that city.
Married to Miss Elizabeth Reif March 30, 1907, the couple came to Caruthersville in 1911, where he engaged in the lumber business, continuing in this business practically all the time since and being head of the Vandivort Lumber Company at his death. Two daughters were born to them, Miss Margaret, actively associated with the business and Mrs. Sam J. Corbett Jr., also of this city. The two brothers mentioned, the widow and two daughters and a grandson, Jeff Corbett comprise the surviving relatives. Two other brothers, Sam and Roy Vandivort preceded him in death.
