Della Jean Kirkland Jones 1919 - 2006
Services for Della Jean Kirkland Jones, 86, Lawrence, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Drennon Chapel in Climax Springs, Mo. Burial will be in Climax Springs Cemetery. Mrs. Jones died Thursday, March 23, 2006, in Lawrence. She was born July 13, 1919, in Elijah, Mo., the daughter of Jesse Bennett and Pearl Mae Taylor Kirkland. She attended cosmetology school in Bakersfield, Mo.Mrs. Jones was a self-employed beautician from 1960 to 1985 and a rancher from 1985 to 2001. She participated in community outreach and fundraisers for Stan Wiseman. She married Fred Jones. He died earlier. She married Noil Russell James. They divorced. Survivors include two daughters, Donieta James Cunningham, Independence, Mo., and Sonja James Wood, Lawrence; three sons, Russell James, Osceola, Mo., Lou James, Climax Springs, and James D. James, Tecumseh, Mo.; three sisters, Doris Kirkland Christianson, Clarinda, Iowa, Eithel Kirkland Dougherty, Rogersville, Mo., and Frankie Kirkland Rowlett, Gamaliel, Ark.; 14 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. A daughter, Wanda James McLaughlin, and a grandson died earlier. The family will receive friends at Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home in Camdenton, Mo. The family suggests memorials to Douglas County Hospice.
