Yvonne (Souque) Richard, 94, Fargo, ND, died Sunday, January 4, 2009, at Bethany Homes, Fargo, ND.
Yvonne Souque, daughter of Pierre and Francoise (Gaston) Souque, was born November 16, 1914. She grew up on the family farm near Haywood, Manitoba, Canada.
On October 20, 1938, she was united in marriage with Armand Richard of Horace, ND. After her marriage to Armand, she made her home on the family farm in Cass County until Armand's death in 1971.
In 1972, Yvonne moved to Fargo and started working for St. Luke's Hospitals (now MeritCare). She retired from MeritCare in 1980. MeritCare had become her second family so she started volunteering wherever she was needed at MeritCare. Yvonne enjoyed all of her volunteer work, particularly her work in Hospital Admitting. In 1990, she was named MeritCare's Volunteer of the Year. She continued to volunteer until she was 88 years old at which time she moved to Bethany Homes, Fargo. At the time of her "second retirement", she had volunteered 15,000 hours.
Yvonne is survived by 11 children, David (Lillian) Richard, West Fargo, Andrew (Ruth) Richard, Horace, George (Sharon) Richard, Fargo, Julien (Janet) Richard, West Fargo, Rosemarie (Gene) Gallagher, Fargo, Jeanne (Gary) Wolter, Arizona, Margaret (Bob) Anderson, Fargo, John (Sharon) Richard, Rogers, MN, Daniel (Vicki) Richard, Fargo, Paul (Mary Jo) Richard, Fargo, Leo (Shirley) Richard Fargo, 27 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Armand, her parents, a brother, Gaston, a sister, Rose, and a grandson, Bruce Freed.
Visitation: 5-7 Tuesday January 6, 2009 with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Boulger Funeral Home in Fargo.
Funeral and Burial: 11:00 a.m. Wednesday January 7, 2009 at St. Benedict's Catholic Church, Wild Rice, ND.
Burial will be at St. Benedict Cemetery, Wild Rice, ND.
