Malott

Dora M. Howell, 87, of Malott, Wash. passed away at Mid—Valley Hospital on Friday, Jan. 27 surrounded by her family and friends. She was born on May 20, 1918 in Scipio, Okla. to Ira and Minnie Gregg. She attended school in Scipio until she married Dee W. Howell of Arpelar, Okla. on Dec. 20, 1933. The family moved to Washington in September of 1948 where they remained, except for a short time in Oklahoma as well as a couple of years in California. Dora and Dee moved to Malott in 1971 where she remained until her death.
In her younger years, she worked as a seamstress and waitress in Oklahoma and worked in the Okanogan and Malott area thinning, mixing sprays, and picking. She packed apples until her retirement at the age of 72.
She is survived by three daughters and one son, Viola (Gene) Harrison of Okanogan, Wash.; Sue (Alvin) Wadkins of Malott, Wash.; Ginger (Jim) Aos of Okanogan, Wash.; Nick Howell of Malott, Wash.; a very special niece who she raised, Bonnie (William) Clevenger of Marysville, Wash.; eight grandchildren, Shirley (Jerry) Wadkins of Reardan, Wash.; Jerry (Cindy) Harrison of Okanogan, Wash.; Allen (Herley) Wadkins of Calif.; Sonya Bowers of Tex.; Brent (Kelly) Covey of Spokane, Wash.; Brenda Covey of Oak Harbor, Wash.; Bretta (Dutch) Schultz of Oak Harbor, Wash.; Shannon (Tom) Brantner of Malott, Wash.; ten great—grandchildren, Destyne Brantner of Malott, Wash.; Sheryl Wadkins of Medical Lake, Wash.; Shawn Wadkins of Mont.; Karrie Butrick of Herrington, Wash.; Alvin II and Aaron Wadkins of Calif.; Amanda Bowers of Malott, Wash.; Bobby Covey of Spokane, Wash.; Britteny Covey of Oak Harbor, Wash.; Nathanial Schultz of Oak Harbor, Wash.; four great—great—grandchildren, Shane Wadkins of Chattaroy, Wash.; George IV and Skyla Burtick—Herrington; and James Barris of Medical Lake, Wash.
Dora was preceded in death by her husband, Dee Howell on May 17, 1987; great—grandson, Adamson Wadkins, who died at the age of three months; her parents; and her siblings.
Services will be held at Precht—Harrison—Nearents Chapel officiated by Reverand J.C. Baughman on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2006, at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be at Okanogan Valley Memorial Gardens with a potluck to follow at the Malott Grange.
Precht—Harrison—Nearents Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
