Wilma J. White

Wilma J. White, 69, died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2005, at Community Hospital South in Indianapolis. She was a resident of Greenwood.

She was born Aug. 26, 1935, in Indianapolis. Her parents were Verl and Mable (Noe) Baker. She married Donald E. "Sonny" White on Feb. 4, 1956, in Southport. He preceded her in death March 1, 2004. Survivors include a daughter, Donna Jean Zimmerman of Greenwood; a brother, Ralph Baker of Mooresville; three stepgrandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Wanda J. Baker.

She graduated from Shortridge High School and graduated magna cum laude from both Butler University with a bachelor's degree in business and Indiana University with a master's degree in business.

She was employed by Indiana Protein Technologies as an office manager for eight years and previously taught business at Southport High School, Perry Meridian High School and the former Indiana Central College.

She was a member of Greenwood Art Guild, Prospect Chapter 452 Order of the Eastern Star and Aircraft Owner Pilots Association. She was also Indiana Morgan Classic Horse Show president, Indianapolis Charity Horse Show committeewoman, Ashwood Home Owners Association secretary, a licensed private pilot and a real estate agent.

She enjoyed painting, sketching, horses, boating and flying.

The Rev. Eleanor Pottschmidt will conduct a service at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Singleton Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 7602 S. Madison Ave. in Indianapolis.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the mortuary, where an Eastern Star memorial service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery.
