Theophile Varle, 56, of 268 Grove Street, Lewiston, ME, died this morning in his home following a brief illness.
He was born March 19, 1910 in Belgium, the son of Mr. & Mrs. Cesar Varle. He had a brother Cyrille & a step-sister Elodie.
On October 14, 1939, when he was 29, Theophile married Dorothy Montigny. They had 3 children: Jacqueline, Michael & Daniel.
Mr. Varle was a resident of Lewiston for 30 years and was employed by the Bates Manufacturing Company. He was a member of the Holy Family Church.
Surviving are his wife, the former Dorothy Montigny; a daughter, Jacqueline (Walter) Knowles of Lakeland, FL; two sons, Michael of Lewiston; and Daniel, U.S. Army, stationed at Fort Devins, MA; his father, Cesar, of Manchester, NH; a brother Cyrille of Lewiston, ME; a step-sister Elodie Thurston of Manchester, NH; and 3 grand- children.
Funeral services to be held at Holy Family Church on Saturday morning at 9 o'clock. Interment to take place in family lot at St. Peter's Cemetery, Lewiston, ME.
