John W. Wright, 88, died Sunday May 24, 1992 in St. George, Utah.

He was born December 25, 1903 in Bennington, Idaho to John Wheeler and Minerva McArthur Wright.

He married Lela Bell Staker June 5, 1929 in the Logan LDS Temple.

She preceded him in death by 12 days May 12, 1992.

Mr. Wright had been director of Vital Statistics for the State of Idaho, International consultant of Vital Statistics for the National Office of Vital Statistics of the United States Public Health Services and had served for the State of Utah for 18 years.

He is survived by two sons, J. Mac Arthur Wright and his wife, Peggy, St. George; Dennis L. Wright and his wife, Anna Lee, Salt Lake City; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Pearl Petersen and Elizabeth Price, and a brother Clay Wright.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday May 27, 1992, 2 p.m. in the St. George City Cemetery. Friends may call at Metcalf Mortuary Tuesday evening May 26, from 7-8 p.m.
